1/26-2/1

Last week, I spent time reflecting on my time in ISM thus far. I looked back on both the hurdles I have overcome and the successes I have had. Although I am most proud of my original work, I am also grateful for the obstacles that came my way because without them, I would not have grown or stepped outside of my comfort zone. My reflection can not be measured in a tangible manner, but I believe that it is the key to creating an effective original work speech that best encapsulates my ISM journey. This was the stepping stone to both creating my presentation and preparing for my delivery of the speech in the upcoming week. The fact that I am nowhere near as afraid of speaking as I was last time is a success in and of itself.

Additionally, I spent a considerable amount of time analyzing my interview with Dr. Ioannis Pavlidis, professor in the Department of Computer Science with concentrations in biomedicine at the University of Houston. This was a very informative interview as my interviewee offered not only technical knowledge pertinent to my research assessments and helpful for my final product, but also advice for me to be successful in college. He told me about his experience and personalized his words of wisdom to cater to my aspirations. For my fourth interview assessment, I outlined this interview and described how it was beneficial to me as an ISM student. This week, I intend to continue researching technology as it relates to neuroscience and putting the finishing touches on my original work speech. On top of completing a research assessment this week, I am scheduled to meet with my mentor and receive her feedback on my product proposal.
