This past week was one of the most productive thus far. I successfully conducted my first ever interview with Dr. Malabendu Jana, a research assistant professor at Rush University Medical Center. This was very significant to furthering my understanding of neuroscience and the career path of a researcher. I also learned a ton about current studies being conducted in the field and how they are advancing treatment for neurological disorders. I also had an informative discussion on Alzheimer’s Disease with Dr. Jana and even found a resource. Dr. Jana has several published papers with one on the implications for Alzheimer’s Disease that is found in the Journal of Immunology. This will be very helpful for future research assessments and I will be sure to check it out.
In addition to a successful first interview, I also had a wonderful experience at the Business Symposium last week. It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, it was a great learning experience that helped me to become comfortable talking to professionals. This is an important skill that I will need to utilize in ISM and beyond. I was lucky enough to be able to speak with a professional who specializes in helping clients with their interview skills. I got excellent feedback and pointers on my responses to common interview questions.
This week is not nearly as much of a hustle, but I will be focusing on finding a specific area of Alzheimer’s Disease that I can learn more about and integrate into my original work. I am thinking of exploring studies that have influenced treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease for my research assessment this week.
