Check, check, and check! Last week in ISM was definitely a significant one. I continued reaching out to professionals and building on my list of contacts to utilize as I go forth on my search for a mentor. Although this was a notable accomplishment, the majority of my time was spent reviewing my peers’ digital portfolios and receiving constructive criticism to better mine. Since the start of ISM, I had primarily been focused on the quality of the elements in my portfolio and had overlooked the importance of the layout of the portfolio itself. Obtaining and giving feedback on portfolios was extremely crucial in sparking thoughts on how to best organize mine. I was able to effectively embed all the different parts I had created thus far in a manner that I was proud of. Putting together the pieces was very encouraging to me as it was the first time I had seen everything I had worked on in a collective product. I hope to replicate this feeling when creating my original work. My work for ISM just feels like second nature to me now as I check things off my to-do list. I am driven to accomplish each week’s tasks at hand and look forward to many more. I have come a long way and I am very excited for everything that I have yet to experience.
This week, my main goals are to focus on drafting out my research speech presentation for next week and finding a topic to explore for my research assessment. Producing my speech will prove to be an excellent opportunity to showcase how I have grown both professionally and academically.
