During winter break, I utilized the time I had to contact professional after professional in my field in hopes of obtaining a mentor. With each attempt, things only seemed to go downhill as there were a few rejections at first, but ended with missed calls at the end. While this may be due to the fact that I made calls during the holiday season, it does not mean I can keep waiting for good news to come to me on its own. My quest for a mentor continues and I am sure that my efforts will all be worth it in the end.
This week, I intend to continue persevering through and ramping up the number of prospective mentors I reach out to each day. If I am fortunate enough to obtain a willing mentor by the end of this week, I will need to work on creating a biography page for him/her on my digital portfolio. Until then, I will keep working on what is in my control. Today, I got a glimpse into what this semester in ISM will look like and while I am a bit anxious about the final product and the supplemental pieces that lead up to it, I know that if I give my best effort, everything will work out just fine. I intend to grow as an individual and scholar and sprout up from my comfort zone. I will embrace the new beginnings of both this year and semester and hope to stay motivated by the “re-solutions'' I have set for myself.
