Last week in ISM was very eventful for me. I heard back from one of my interviewees after withstanding a long wait and she agreed to be my mentor! I was ecstatic to receive a positive response after weeks of emailing other professionals and remaining in a constant state of distress. I am glad that my efforts have paid off and my struggles finally came to a stop. I have a meeting scheduled with my newfound mentor this weekend where I will talk more about the next steps in this exciting journey with her.
In addition to obtaining this amazing news, I also completed my first research assessment in the second semester. I was lucky enough to stumble across an article that was very interesting to me and also relevant to the medical field and its innovations today. I learned a lot about a multifunctional neuro device with the ability to recognize electrophysiological signals and transmit data on a wide range of body functions (ie. heart beat, muscle condition, body temperature, etc.). I immensely enjoyed exploring the intersection of technology and medicine and intend to learn more about the facets of this interdisciplinary field as it relates to neuroscience. The article certainly piqued my interest and served as a significant stepping stone to my future research and possible ideas for my final product. This week, I hope to find another intriguing article to delve deeper into neurological technology and produce a thorough research assessment. I will also need to work on a rough draft of my product proposal and a calendar to complement my goals.
