This past week in ISM was spent putting together the finishing touches on my research presentation and discovering another article of interest to dissect for Research Assessment #8. While last week was a bit difficult in both ISM and my other courses, I was able to come out of it all feeling accomplished. It was satisfying to produce a well-thought-out speech that effectively showcased my work thus far in ISM. I was proud of my work and felt prepared going into my speech today. Because giving speeches is not one of my strong suits, I felt extra pleased with my presentation today as I effectively communicated to my peers my chosen topic, research, and experience with my interviews and leaped over my pre-existing weakness. It was comforting to receive positive feedback from my classmates and overall, I will definitely be a lot more confident with myself for future research presentations. In addition to a successful speech, I was also lucky enough to come across a very relevant article detailing the role of technology in Alzheimer’s and its impact on dementia patients. I incorporated this excellent find into my speech and intend to also utilize it for my patient guide.

This week, I am excited to continue listening to my peers’ presentations and learn more about their fields of study. I have become captivated by the unique fields that many have chosen to explore and have truly enjoyed hearing their insight on their individual journeys in ISM. My main goals for this week are to delve deeper into another facet of Alzheimer’s through Research Assessment #9 and to continue reaching out to professionals in hopes of obtaining a mentor.
