TAKING THE "COLD" OUT OF COLD CALLING

Last week was certainly marked by nervous feelings and awkwardness. I’m sure that it was only one of many more to come as I continue to step outside of my comfort zone in ISM. I have made phone calls before, but that is nothing like the brave act of calling people you do not know- people who are professionals. Our primary objective for last week was to start calling potential mentors. This was a daunting process, but much like anything else, practice makes perfect. As I continued to call professionals, I started to ease up and realize that calling really isn’t that “cold” if you don’t make it that way. With every call, I found new strength and confidence built up inside of me. I can say that I have truly grown in my calling abilities and have started to pick up on professional skills.
This week, I will be focusing on refining my resume even more before submitting my final copy and attaching it on this digital portfolio. Building off of the knowledge I gained and topics I explored in the previous research assessments, I will try to think of other topics I would like to learn more about for future assessments. I will also prepare myself for the interviews I have scheduled with professionals in the upcoming weeks.
